Suzanne E. Parnell, PH.D. Reiki Master:
Suzanne Parnell has been a Reiki Master through John Harvey Gray, one of the original twenty-two masters trained by Hawayo Takata, since 1996. She holds a Ph.D. in Medieval Literature from Tulane University with specialization in palæography, in particular the study of medieval scientific and medical manuscripts. Dr. Parnell is a published scholar who taught at Southern Methodist University, the University of LA at New Orleans, and Tulane University. She has studied eastern metaphysics, alternative healing, and subtle energy for thirty years and in the last five years has worked in cross-cultural healing with Native American Elders. She now focuses her research and writing on the developing field of subtle energy science. Suzanne teaches classes in Traditional Reiki, meditation, energy ethics, and subtle energy science at TRI and at the Ajna Center for Reiki in Fayetteville. She is one of the Founders of The Traditional Reiki Institute, Inc.

Phyllis J. Kates, M.A. Reiki Master
Phyllis Kates received her Mastership in the Takata lineage from Suzanne Parnell at the Ajna Center for Reiki in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Before moving to Arkansas, Phyllis taught communication classes at Purdue University, Northern Illinois University, and the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. Retired from Wal-Mart's Marketing Division, Phyllis is one of the founders of TRI and now serves as its Executive Vice President. She is a case manager for TRI clients as well as a trainer of case managers for TRI practitioners. Believing you must heal yourself before healing others, Phyllis emphasizes the self-healing aspects of Reiki in her classes in addition to teaching students how to give Reiki treatments to others.

Frank R. Thompson, RN, CRRN Reiki Master
Frank Thompson received his Reiki training from Suzanne Parnell
at the Ajna Center for Reiki. Frank has twenty-two years in nursing that includes experience in alcohol
and drug counseling, orthopedics, cardiology critical care, pediatrics and
most recently, gerontology rehab. He brings to his students a deep understanding of how Reiki interfaces with medical
protocol, with serious medical conditions, and with hospice care. He is also one of the Founders
of TRI and will begin teaching Reiki through TRI in 2003.
